About CrossFit

What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is a high-intensity fitness program and methodology that combines constantly varied functional movements, including weightlifting, gymnastics, and cardiovascular exercises, to improve overall fitness, strength, and conditioning.

What I need to be fit before I start CrossFit?

Absolutely not! CrossFit helps you get fit. CrossFit is a completely scaleable program, which means every workout is adaptable to your fitness level.

What is a WOD?

This is an acronym for “workout of the day”. This is typically presented at the beginning of the class as the main training piece for your session.

Will CrossFit make me bulky?

Short answer- no, not necessarily. Many years of weightlifting and eating a balanced, protein-rich diet will increase your muscle mass. CrossFit alone does not achieve this, but can be leveraged as part of your muscle-building routine if that is one of your goals.

What if I can’t do a movement in the workout?

We’ve got you! Our coaches provide scaling options for every movement. Consider a scaling option an alternative movement or rep scheme that allows you to achieve the intended goal of the workout.

Classes and Workouts

What will my first class be like?

A typical class can be broken down into 4 parts:

  1. whiteboard brief, where the coach explains the workout, stimulus, and scaling options to the class,
  2. warmup, where the coach leads you through movements that will prepare you for the workout
  3. workout, where you perform the “WOD” under the coaches’ guidance
  4. cool down, where you return to the whiteboard, give the coach your score, fist bump your friends, and hit a quick stretch.
Can I try it out first?

Absolutely! Your first class is always free. Click here to register for your free trial.

Can I see the workouts in advance?

Once you purchase a membership, you can view all the workouts usually 7 days in advance using the app SugarWOD. A coach will provide you with an access code.

How often should I do CrossFit?

This varies depending on your goals and availability. Most of our members attend ~3 classes a week. Start with what your body feels comfortable with and increase your volume as you see necessary.

What should I bring to my first class?

All you need are comfortable training shoes (running shoes are fine) and a comfortable workout outfit. Things like a water bottle and towel are optional and up to your discretion.

What’s the difference between Engine, Teens, Kids, CrossFit, and Olympic Weightlifting?

You can read all our class descriptions here. CrossFit Teens is for children 12-17 years of age, and CrossFit Kids is for kids 5-11 years of age.

What is included in the Limited Membership?

Our limited CrossFit membership includes two CrossFit classes per week. The week resets on the day of the week you purchase your membership.

Why do I have to register for classes?

This helps coaches plan for your class, including setting up equipment and organizing the workout so everyone has access to the equipment they need. There is no cancellation fees for cancelling your registration.
